Felting, an all-around course for advanced felters and beginners
with Annemie Koenen
8-15 September 2019
This course will introduce you to several techniques such as surface structures, nuno, layers, working in three dimensions, felt modeling, and the Turkmenish method, which also involves embroidery.
Each participant can work on their own level. You can work on different projects; it doesn't matter whether it is a hat, a scarf, a wall object, or something else. This means that the course is equally interesting for beginners as well as experienced felters.
Several techniques are on offer. We can make three-dimensional female figures using felt modeling. We construct the sculpture with wool and lukewarm, soapy water; this early stage is not strictly felting.
In addition, you can make patterns to felt for wall decorations, hats, shawls, bags, or whatever. For the choice of your patterns it might be an idea to take Etruscan motifs as a source of inspiration, but it is totally up to you. You are completely free to follow your own preferences.
You are expected to arrive on Sunday 8 September, late afternoon, about 17.00. Annemie will arrive about then. You will enjoy a welcome meal together.
Monday morning you can explore the property and settle into your new surroundings.
Monday after lunch the real work starts, supervised by Annemie. After two days of hard work, we'll take a break and have an excursion to get you a bit more acquainted with the area around us. Thereafter you will have another two days of hard work concluding with an exposition to admire and discuss all the works made.
